Tomato Coriander Chutney

Ingredients for Tomato coriander chutney:


Tomato – 4 big

Coriander – 1 fist full

Urad dal – 1 spoon

Chana dal – 1 spoon

Methi seeds – 1 pinch or ¼ spoon

Mustard – ¼ spoon

Guntur chili – 8-9

Asafoetida/Hing – ¼ spoon

Turmeric – ¼ spoon

Salt as required



For Tempering:

Oil – 1 spoon

Mustard – ¼ spoon

Urad dal – ¼ spoon

Chana dal – ¼ spoon


How to prepare :


1. Add 2 spoons of oil in a pan, add methi seeds, urad dal, chana dal, and fry until golden brown. Then add Guntur chili, hing, mustard, and fry for 30 seconds.

2. Take out the above ingredients from the pan and allow it to cool. To the same oil in the pan add tomatoes and fry for 5 minutes.

3. Add turmeric and the required salt to the tomatoes for them to boil nicely.

4. Once the tomatoes are boiled nicely transfer them to a plate and allow them to cool.

5. Take a mixer grinder and grind all the items in step 1 to a fine powder without adding water.

6. Then add the tomatoes and salt if required and grind it to a chutney consistency(Do not add water).

7. Once done add a fist full of fresh coriander and just churn once in the mixie.

8. Make a tempering with the above-mentioned tempering ingredients.


Tasty Tomato Coriander chutney is ready to serve. Makes a perfect side for Idly and Dosa.
